Associate in Science Criminal Justice (ASCJ)

Iowa Central College Online has assembled some of the nation's foremost experts in law enforcement and tactical training for this innovative program. In addition, Iowa Central College hosts the state's Homeland Security Training Center, which trains 'first responders' throughout Iowa. Training includes Terrorism Awareness, Incident Command, Bombing Awareness, and Weapons of Mass Destruction. With a special emphasis on homeland security, this degree program is both timely and essential.

Associate of Science in Human Services (ASHS)

An Associates Degree in Human Services prepares students for professional careers in areas including social service agencies, human resource departments and community organizations. The Human Services program at Iowa Central College prepare students by giving them knowledge and basic skills to work in the human services industry. Programs combine academic instruction in the foundations of human services, such as social work, counseling, and psychology, with the management skills of organizing, planning, leading, assessing, and evaluating. Associate of Science Degree in Health Care Administration (ASHCA)

The Associate of Science Degree in Health Care Administration at Iowa Central has been developed to provide students entering and those currently in field advancement opportunities within the health science and related fields. Graduates of the program will become managers in the health profession. Individuals will plan, supervise, and direct the delivery of healthcare. Depending upon the size of the facility, graduates will be able to cover a variety of tasks with this program since the coursework is diverse. Courses will cover materials including: Aging Population, Health Care, and Business courses such as Economics, Management and Accounting.

Medical Transcription and Coding (MEDTC)

Medical Transcription is a growing field that can provide steady employment while working at home or at a medical facility. The goal of this program is to prepare students for entry-level employment as a Medical Transcriptionist. The courses will provide students with the basic knowledge, understanding, and skills required to transcribe healthcare dictation and prepare patient care documents with accuracy, clarity, consistency, and timeliness, applying the principles of professional and ethical conduct. Medical transcriptionists and coders transcribe physician-dictated material that becomes a permanent part of the patient’s medical record. The medical transcriptions and coders are an important part of the allied health team. This program will include training such as medical terminology, pharmacology, anatomy, laboratory procedures; as well as grammar, keyboarding, transcribing, coding, and insurance. Important skills required in medical transcription include listening, hand-eye coordination, hearing acuity, and keyboarding skills.
